How to wash bamboo bedding: steps and tips

By: Koning Bamboe Comments: 0

Want to wash bamboo bedding? Start with the care label on your fitted sheet, duvet cover or pillowcase. Permitted temperatures and drying methods can differ between products. This guide helps you read the instructions and plan a practical laundry routine.

Read the care label first

The number inside the washtub indicates the maximum washing temperature. One bar underneath means a mild cycle; two bars mean a very mild cycle. A crossed-out symbol means that treatment is not permitted. The tumble-drying symbol is a circle inside a square. Dots indicate the permitted heat level; a cross means you must not tumble dry the item.

Choose the treatment using the product's care label rather than the fibre name alone. Do not assume every item described as bamboo has the same care instructions.

What does Boomba Bamboo recommend?

Boomba Bamboo's general bedding guide recommends a gentle wash at a maximum of 30–40 °C, with mild liquid detergent and no bleach. The brand says fabric softener is unnecessary and advises keeping bedding separate from rough fabrics.

These are general instructions for that collection. If your label gives a lower temperature or different treatment, follow the label. A filled duvet can also need different care from an empty cover.

A practical laundry-day checklist

  1. Gather your items: keep the cover, pillowcases and fitted sheet together, but check their labels separately.
  2. Compare the instructions: can all items use the same cycle? If not, split them into suitable loads.
  3. Check the detergent: read its suitability and dosing information. Adjust the amount to the load and water hardness.
  4. Plan the drying space: have a suitable place ready before starting the machine.
  5. Keep the instructions handy: you can photograph the label so you can check it easily next time.

Drying bamboo bedding: rack or tumble dryer?

Boomba Bamboo prefers air drying and advises low heat if using a dryer. First check whether your particular item permits tumble drying. Let the bedding dry completely before storing it.

Short on drying space? Plan laundry for a time when the bedding can stay on the rack, and keep a second set ready. That way you do not need to speed things up using a temperature the label does not allow.

Frequently asked questions about washing bamboo bedding

Can I wash bamboo bedding at 60 degrees?

Only if the care label for your specific item permits it. Do not assume 60 °C is suitable based on the word bamboo alone; check the label before selecting a programme.

What if the care label is missing?

Find the product name and order details, then ask the seller or manufacturer for the instructions for that exact version. Do not rely on the fabric's appearance or the care instructions for a different brand.

Can I wash my bamboo duvet with the cover?

Check both labels separately. A filled duvet is a different item from a duvet cover and may require different treatment. Your machine must also be suitable for the load; consult its instructions.

Who can help if two sets of advice disagree?

Send the product name and a photograph of the label to customer service. We can help clarify the instructions for your version before you wash it.
